I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor in the state of Texas. With over 21 years in private practice and practice within public schools, I am able to offer my clients a wealth of experience and knowledge that is based in Attachment, Child Centered (for Play Therapy), and Solution Focused Brief Therapies, among others. As a wife and mother of 3 children, I bring real life experience into my practice as well.
My work with children, couples, families, and individuals has the same focus - to help my clients reach their highest functional potential, to support their journey, and to help them imagine and create their own preferred futures so that they can see them to fruition.
Change is very often difficult and can feel overwhelming and impossible. I promise to provide encouragement and resources to support along the way as my clients work toward their life-changing goals.
Congratulations on the very brave decision to move forward in your mental health journey! I know this is often the hardest part -- deciding. I very much look forward to speaking with you. If you desire more information about scheduling an appointment with me, please send me a direct email and it is suggested to follow up with a text, just in case your email goes to my spam folder. Please email directly to: JenniferNicholsLPC@gmail.com and then text (281) 323-2276. Please include the following information in that first point of contact:
Jennifer uses an attachment-centered therapeutic approach, incorporating theory from Person and Child-Centered Theory, Systems Theory, and aspects of Adlerian Theory as well. Techniques will be used from these as well as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and multi-disciplinary techniques in Sandtray Therapy.
Jennifer's Play Therapy approach is almost always purely child-centered. Click below to find out more about Play Therapy and how it is the only appropriate way to work with small children...
This is a very brief video introducing me and my practice.
This area contains the Sandtray area as well which I often use with older adolescents, teens, and adults.
This is a dedicated, fully equipped playroom where I provide Child-Centered Play Therapy to children ages 3 to 9/10
What is Solution Focused Brief Therapy and where did it come from? Who created it? How does it work? Insoo Kim Berg & Steve de Shazer created this very effective approach to working with clients in mental health therapy. Here Insoo Kim Berg gives a short talk as a keynote speaker outlining all of that. Bad audio, but very interesting!
This is a silly and cute but VERY accurate video showing why children don't benefit greatly from traditional talk therapies.
Here is a brief overview of Play Therapy & How It Works
Here you can learn all about why this form of treatment for children truly is research based and researched supported from so many experts in the field.
